 About the Championships

The 2009 Southern Conference Cross Country Championships will be held on Saturday, Oct. 31, in Elon, NC. Elon University will host the event for the first time. This will be the 80th Annual Cross Country Championship for the men, and the 25th for the women.

The championships will begin with the men's 8,000-meter run at 10 a.m. ET, followed by the women's 5,000-meter event at 10:45 a.m. on Elon's Campus. The top men's and women's teams will be the 2009 Conference Champions, while the top 7 individuals in each race will be named First Team All-conference. Individual finishers placing 8th through 14th in each race will comprise the Second Team All-Conference.

The Appalachian State men were the 2008 Southern Conference Cross Country Champions - the fourth year in a row for the ASU men's program, and the 12th time overall in the program's history. The Chattanooga women were the 2008 Southern Conference Cross Country Champions for the third year in a row, and the 7th time in program history. The 2008 Championships were held at Milliken Park in Spartanburg, SC.

Admission is free to the public.
