About the Championship The 2011 Southern Conference Softball Championship presented by Ford took place Wednesday, May 11th through Saturday, May 14th. This was the 18th annual Southern Conference Softball Championship.& All nine softball teams participated at Eagle Field on the campus of Georgia Southern University in Statesboro, Ga. As the winner of the Softball Championship, Chattanooga received the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA regional softball tournament. Chattanooga put up seven runs in the fourth inning to defeat the College of Charleston Cougars 11-2 in five innings during the championship game. The top seeded Lady Mocs went 4-0 during the tournament, improving their record to 42-12. Chattanooga will go on to play Memphis in the Tuscaloosa Regional of the NCAA Tournament. | |||
