About the Championship The 2012 Southern Conference Men's Soccer Championship took place on Thursday, Nov. 8,Saturday, Nov. 10,in Cary, N.C. The event nbsp;was held at the WakeMed Soccer Park. This was the 25th annual Southern Conference Men's Soccer Championship. The Quarterfinals (First Round) were hosted by the top four seeds on Saturday (or Sunday) Nov. 3 (or 4) and the winners advanced to the Semifinals in Cary, N.C. This year, tournament Most Outstanding Player Gabe Latigue scored on a direct free kick for the game-winner in the 75th minute as top-seeded Elon downed No. 7 seed Wofford 2-1 in the Southern Conference Men's Soccer Championship title game at WakeMed Soccer Park on Saturday night. With its second straight title, the 23rd-ranked Phoenix claimed the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Men's Soccer Championship. |
